Special Licenses
There are two major types of special licenses available in Nassau County, SFX licenses for restaurants and Special Hotel Licenses. The first are issued pursuant to SB 644, a Special Act that regulates states all establishments have to maintain a bona fide restaurant and have 4, 000 square feet of covered floor space and seating for 200 patrons, as well as derive no less than 51% of their gross revenue from the sale of non-alcoholic beverages and food. The special hotel licenses follow the same Act and hotels, motels or motor courts are required to have at least 50 guestroom and derive 51% of the gross revenue from room rental.
